Is God marketable or saleable?

Is there any problem in worshipping humans as Gods? -- People can worship anybody they chose. -- Freedom of worship exists in most countries. Why do people deify humans? -- Coterie around God persons (Godmen / God women) spread info about the divinity of the person. -- The circle members may fabricate stories of miracles around the God person. -- Some circle members may genuinely believe the divinity of the Guru. They might have been misled. What harm in deifying people and worshipping them? -- Gullible, innocent, illiterate, inadequately informed people may believe the stories of the eulogy. -- Much fuel will be wasted in performing unwanted journeys to the God Persons. Traffic jams take place. -- When temples are built, space available for other purposes gets pre-empted. Temples consume power, water. Create garbage. Create sound pollusion. Give example? --Thousands of foreigners visit Puttaparti, in India to seek the blessing of Satya Sai Baba. --They donate, spend. --A special Railway line has been laid to the place. A Special Airport has been built. Do God Persons not have any merit at all? --God persons do have some merits. They are good orators on scriptures and philosophy. --They have a resonant voice and can sing well. --Example: Mr. Satya Sai Baba is an impressive speaker. He speaks quite convincingly. He quotes from scriptures. He donates to Community programmes. He runs hospitals, colleges and universities. --That does not make a person God in the sense of Creator-Protector-Destroyer (almighty). Don't God Persons perform miracles? -- God Persons cannot perform miracles. Vested interests create stories. It is necessary for making a person, a saint. Necessary for beatification and deification. Don't God Persons cure diseases? -- They cannot. A patient may cure himself through self hypnotism, sometimes. Visiting a God Person is also a type of self-hypnotism. Can the God Persons allow others to call them God? -- A true person of great wisdom should refuse being called a God. He must know his limits. Who is Shirdi Sai Baba? -- Shirdi Sai Baba lived: 1835 - 1918. Lived at Shirdi. A human in flesh and blood. Who is Satya Sai Baba? -- Born 1926.
